Let Life Flow
- The flow of the river is ceaseless and its water is never the same.
Rivers never cease to flow and never stay the same. Even where the water looks stagnant, the bubbles rise, form and disappear with no exception. Nothing stays the same even in human society – man and his home… One is to die in the morning. Another is to be born in the evening. Everything is in an ever-changing flow of birth and death.

キャンバスの上に、一日一本、一回限りの色彩で平行に一定間隔を保ち、水平線は上から下へ、垂直線は右から左へと日々描かれます。これらの線は横方向の西洋書形式と日本の縦方向書形式を表し、再現性のある色を用いて日常をとどめていく絵画制作です。すなわち線と時との関わりにおいて、一本の線は過ぎ去った時間を塗り、また塗り重ねることができないように、一回限りの行為として描かれ、その日の記録となっています。平行で一定間隔を保ちつつ重なりあう線は、一日という時間の単位のようにそれぞれが等価で独立し、かつ常に過去と未来との関わりをもっています。一枚の絵画で同じ色彩を使わない不可逆的な枠組みを設け、無限の色彩の中から一色を探し出そうとする試みです。

On a canvas, the painting is done one day at a time, in a single color. Keeping a regular parallel spacing, horizontal lines are painted daily from top to bottom and vertical lines from right to left. These lines represent both horizontal western description format and Japanese vertical calligraphic forms, and the reproducible colors used in the painting are meant to capture daily life. In other words, in relation to color and time, each line is painted as a one-time act, a record of a time that has passed and cannot be painted over again. And, by establishing an irreversible framework of not using the same color in a single painting, it attempts to find a single color from among the infinite number of colors.
